Sterlite commissions rly siding

Sterlite Copper has commissioned phase-I of a railway siding project adjacent to its copper smelter plant at Milavittan for Rs 25 crore. This phase, comprising a 7 km track length connecting the smelter unit with the main line, is expected to streamline traffic within and outside the plant premises and reduce costs by increasing efficiency. It will help the company transport all finished and by products like copper, gypsum and slag to various parts of the country. It will also help minimise the loss of goods during transit. Phase-II is expected to be commissioned by October next year.
