The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will reportedly be investing Rs 611 crore on road and flyover works for FY2018-19. As per reports, the civic body plans to construct a new road network spanning 150 km in the city in the year 2018-19. A proposal has also been put up for an express corridor at Kalupur railway station. In addition to the roads, around 15 new gardens have been proposed for a clean and green Ahmedabad in Makarba, Chandkehda, New Maninagar, etc.
The works on the Sabarmati Riverfront project have been completed and the civic body has been adding new features each year. According to reports, this year a heritage theme based miniature park at the riverfront, on the lines of the one in Agartala, Tripura, has been introduced by the Municipal Corporation. In order to reduce the burden of traffic, the city will have a total of 88 flyovers in the next two years. Similarly, 16 new underpasses on the Ahmedabad-Botad railway line and three layer flyover have been proposed.
