In Kochi, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has finalised plans to begin work on the city's heart line, MG Road, starting next weekend (June 29-30). While work is expected to start in the right earnest only after the Onam festival, the Metro agency will carry out the preparatory work during weekends till September on the stretch.
DMRC has sought the permission to close down the stretch on MG Road between Padma Junction and Abad Plaza hotel on June 29-30 to physically trace utility lines.
The agency has also planned to close the stretch between Mullasserry Canal Road and KPCC Junction on July 13-14 for the same purpose. The Metro authority stated that it intended to start work by the end of September to ensure that commercial establishments on MG Road would not lose out on business during the festival season.
