The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been severely criticised by the MIM floor leader in State Assembly, Akbaruddin Owaisi on October 21 for not taking up road widening works in the city on priority basis. He pointed out that land rates in the city have increased four times since its proposal of road widening.
The MIM leader made the remarks during an inspection of different areas of Chandrayangutta Assembly constituency along with GHMC mayor M Majid Hussain, GHMC commissioner MT Krishna Babu and other GHMC officials.
Road widening works were going on very slowly and there was a need to prioritise them as works taken up five years ago are yet to be completed. He said land rate per square yard for acquisitions has gone up from Rs 6,000 to Rs 25,000 now, Akbaruddin pointed out.
