Brigade Enterprises Ltd has developed many landmark buildings in Bengaluru, Mysore, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Mangalore and Chikmagalur, from apartments and villas to offices, SEZs, malls, hospital, hotels, serviced residences, clubs, convention centres and schools. The company believes in providing world-class living and working environments to its customers and has constantly upgraded its standards and scope of activities to have the widest coverage in the industry. Brigade Group is totally committed to environment protection, whether it is rainwater harvesting, recycling of water, reduction in pollution, or planting and replanting trees. For example, the company has installed a capacity of about 5,000 kld of sewage water treatment in various projects, costing over Rs 100 million – it has consistently used sewage treatment plants even before they became mandatory. It has also maximised the shading of walls, produced construction materials with energy-efficient processes, used recycled materials in roads and structures, and undertaken earthquake and disaster protection for buildings. The group's community initiatives include the Brigade Foundation, a not-for-profit trust, and a construction technology vocational training centre, in association with National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR). Brigade Group has received ISO 14001:2004 (environmental management system) and OHSAS 18001:2007 (occupational health and safety assessment system) certifications and featured on the prestigious 200 Best Under a Billion Dollar Forbes list for the Asia-Pacific. In fact, it is the only Indian real-estate company to find a place in the Forbes list for 2008. It also received an Economic Times Acetech Award in 2007. Little wonder then that Brigade Group has been recognised among India's Top 10 Builders consecutively from 2007 by CW.
The X Factor
“Contractors, suppliers and everyone else in the industry believes we are better builders because of the trust we enjoy among customers. Our projects are innovative and out-of-the-box, and there is consistency in whatever we do.”- MR Jaishankar, Chairman & Managing Director
Our values are the same as our USP - quality, customer orientation, fairness, innovation, and being socially responsible and trustworthy.
The ethics of builders are definitely improving year after year compared to what they were 30 years ago. There is greater transparency. This is also evident if you see how many companies are going public. But there will always be bad apples in any industry. Perhaps the share of bad apples in construction and real estate are higher than other industries! We follow the principles of transparency and ethical dealing.
Quality and timely delivery
We give a lot of importance to quality issues, which is apparent to everybody. Timely delivery is a challenge and a problem. None of our projects have stopped, but there are instances where they have overshot the committed schedule. Also in our written agreement to buyers, we give compensation for the delay beyond a certain time.
The industry has a very bright future which is directly linked to the future of the country. If India grows at 8-10 per cent, the real estate industry is expected to grow anywhere between 12-15 per cent.
