Smart City Kochi, a flagship IT township project originally conceived as a JV between the Kerala Government and Dubai-based Tecom Investments, has got a new boost as the CEO of Smart City Kochi has planned for an additional three phases for the project. The current Smart City Kochi project had only two phases originally. As reported, the technical team of the Smart City plan is working on Phases-III, IV and V.
The additional projects will be the last three phases by which the major infrastructure will be built. The authorities reportedly plan to start work on the additional phases by mid 2019. The second phase of the smart city project is expected to be completed by 2020-21.
Further, as reported, authorities expect around 6 million sq ft of IT built-up space to be ready by 2020-21 at a combined investment of Rs 2,000 crore by Smart City and its co-developers. The two phases are expected to bring up large-scale infrastructure opportunities and over 55,000 direct IT jobs. There are plans to have an an integrated township and IT parks as well.
