Construction major Larsen & Toubro is making headlines for two important news, among others. Led by its CEO & Managing Director SN Subrahmanyan, the firm recently bagged the Rs 25-billion Shivaji Statue contract from the Maharashtra Government. It has also signed a major contract worth Rs 28.64 billion with the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL). While the Maharashtra Government has given the LoA to the company to build the statue on EPC mode; its railways strategic business unit of its transportation infrastructure division has reportedly secured the DFCCIL order against stiff competition from five other major EPC companies. The EPC order involves construction of 222 km of a single track corridor from Khurja to Pilkhani in Uttar Pradesh; it is the first EPC civil, structure and track project in the eastern dedicated freight corridor. With these news and more, all eyes on Subrahmanyan and L&T for these projects, among the several others in its cap.
