Established to be a leader in PEB, Pennar Engineered Building System has diversified into segments such as structural steel, cold form buildings, solar module mounting structures and engineering services for overseas companies. ´This has led to an increase in top line and bottom line,´ says PV Rao, Managing Director, Pennar Engineered Building Systems. ´Our strategy of retaining key customers with a separate key accounts department has worked.´ The company normally has around 45 to 50 per cent repeat customers. ´Service is our main differentiator with our competitors,´ he adds.
Pennar takes corrective action to ensure project execution on time with high standards of quality and safety. ´We get premium in pricing compared to competitors owing to our proven capabilities,´ says Rao. ´Constant upgrade in products and services has helped in significant growth.´ Pennar is cautious in managing inventories and cash flows and has avoided projects with potential problems in execution and collection of amounts. With a good backlog for 2016-17, the company is scaling up its solar and engineering services segments; plans to set up its own plant in Gujarat by year-end; and is in discussions with companies abroad for a potential acquisition. If these materialise, growth will be rapid.
