NTPC has approved an investment of Rs 14,366.58 crore for its Karanpura thermal power project in Jharkhand. This investment was planned after the company in 2013 reallocated coal blocks in the state. The Cabinet Committee on Investment (CCI) in 2013 cleared the proposal of NTPC allowing it to set up a 1,980 MW power plant with three units of 660 MW each. The project was stuck, since 2008 following the withdrawal of coal linkages by the coal ministry.
