Berger Paints India is the second largest paint company in the country with a market share of 17.8 per cent. The company has a consistent track record of being one of the fastest growing paint companies for the past few years. Over the last couple of years, it has achieved the market share by implementing various strategies. It has registered a phenomenal growth in both top-line and bottom-line. Over the last five years (FY11-15), the company´s revenues grew at a CAGR of 16.6 per cent and EBIDTA grew at 20.59 per cent. During FY15, the company achieved net consolidated revenue from operations of Rs 4,305 crore as against Rs 3,855 crore in the previous year, registering a growth of 11.69 per cent. It has increased its dealer network by 10-15 per cent every year, pulling the total dealer count to 20,000 plus with a presence in over 80 locations across the country. Having strategically placed 11 manufacturing units and about 170 sales offices across India has helped the company reduce distribution cost.
Berger Paints has also aggressively invested in brand building, which is gradually yielding results, with its advertised products growing in excess of the company´s decorative segment volume growth. Brand visibility is aiding growth in the premium end segment. New products like Berger Easy Clean, Berger All Weather Coat and Berger Breathe Easy with marquee features along with initiatives like Berger Express Painting will improve the company´s brand equity and support growth. Innovation will be the key growth lever over the next two years.
