According to reports, Ramco Cement is interested in setting up a cement factory at Kilimigundla village in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district.
A delegation headed by PR Venkata Ramaraja, Vice Chairman, Ramco, reportedly called on N Chanadrababu Naidu, Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh, and indicated its interest to set up a cement plant with a Rs 1,500 crore investment outlay. Further, reports indicate that the total investment in the cement plant and related infrastructure could also go up to Rs 3,000 crore, as it requires a rail line of about 20 km to facilitate transport.
It is known that the Ramco team has requested the Naidu to provide the necessary land to develop the plant and to also facilitate the necessary clearances in order to develop the rail line as this would be useful for other projects in the area as well. Naidu has reportedly assured the company of his government’s support and of taking up the rail link matter with the Centre for necessary support and clearances.
