India's first advanced ultra-supercritical thermal power plant will be set up at Sipat station of NTPC in Chhattisgarh.
The coal-fired project will have a capacity of 800 MW. Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research has developed the technology, while BHEL will design and manufacture the boiler and other equipment that NTPC will use.
CCEA had approved the proposal for the R&D of AUSC technology for thermal power plants.
