Cement consumption may increase

According to the Cement Manufacturers Association, the consumption of cement in the country is expected to increase by 8-9 per cent over the next year, taking the estimated cement consumption in FY 2013-14 to about 280-285 mn tonne, from around 260 mn tonne in 2012-13 fiscal. UltraTech Cement has expressed concerns over the lag in the industry, which has been seeing an excess capacity of about 100 mn tonne.
