Having acquired Adhunik Cement for Rs 560 crore, Dalmia Bharat Enterprises is set to strengthen its presence in the North East. This is the company's second acquisition in the region after it acquired a 50 per cent stake earlier in Assam-based Calcom. With this, the company hopes to establish over 3.5 mn tonne of production capacity in the region. At present, demand in North-East is estimated at about 6 mn tonne a year and growth rate at a healthy 12-15 per cent.
