The government's decision to establish a cement packing godown at Kollam port in Kerala has been opposed by the Coastal Protection Council. This plan was included as part of the comprehensive Kollam port development project. The Council members in Kollam alleged that the master plan was finalised without considering health hazards to the people. They added that the godown will also affect the functioning of the traditional fishing harbour in Thankassery.
