Jaiprakash Associates recently approved the de-merger of its Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat units to merge them into wholly-owned subsidiary Jaypee Cement Corp, which is currently building a plant in Karnataka with a 3 mn tonne capacity. Jaypee Cement Corp will now have an annual capacity of 8.5 mn tonne. JP Associates' annual cement-making capacity of about 28 mn tonne will further expand to 35 mn tonne by mid-2012.
