Lafarge-Holcim to divest two cement plants for merger

The proposed merger of French cement maker Lafarge and Swiss Holcim has been cleared by the Competition Commission of India (CCI). But the cement makers will be required to divest two cement plants for the merger to go through. Lafarge´s Jojobera plant in Jharkhand and the company´s integrated unit at Sonadih in Chhattisgarh will be divested cutting down the combined capacity of both Holcim and Lafarge by around 5 mtpa.
