The global cement industry will step up efforts to adopt new technologies and put greater focus in innovation to make crucial progress on reducing CO2 emissions. Current technology employed by the sector to reduce emissions can only deliver 50 per cent of the CO2 savings required to achieve the Paris Agreement target of keeping a rise in global temperatures below 2¦C. A new Climate Action Plan, which is to be published in September, will focus on the tangible actions for a transition towards low-carbon production.
