A concrete affair

Putzmeister Boom Pumps are contractors' first choice for Bangalore Metro Rail Project.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) is a JV between the Government of India and Government of Karnataka. For easy implementation and execution of the project, four elevated stretches called 'reaches' and two underground sections have been awarded to different contractors based on their expertise. L&T, JMC Project, Coastal Projects, ITD-CEM JV, CEC are some of the contractors using Putzmeister's concrete machinery for building elevated structures, station building, underground tunnel and track lines. The market share of the company's boom pumps is around 70-80 per cent in this project.

Laying the groundwork

L&T's infra division is developing the R-3A stretch for the 5.1 km elevated structure and is using the Putzmeister boom pump model BSF 36.09 for pre-casting and concreting piers and piers caps.The company's B&F (Building and Factory) division is working on three stations in each R-3, R-3A, R-4 (north and south line) with Putzmeister's boom pump model BSF36.09H for building the station and placing concrete at three levels.

JMC Projects India is using the Putzmeister boom pump model BSF36.09H on R-4A which includes 4 km elevated structure and three stations and R03B which includes 3.8 km elevated structure and three stations.

CEC has been awarded the contract to construct the underground tunnel of total length 4.9 km. They are also constructing four underground stations in the East-West line. They have chosen BSF36.09H and BSF32.09H (Putzmeister's models).

Coastal Project has bagged three underground tunnel projects in the North-South line of 4 km. They have invested in Putzmeister's boom pump model BSF 36.09H for placing concrete at tunnel opening, pathways, sidewall construction, etc.
