Kirby Building Systems India Ltd has won the prestigious Infrastructure Excellence Award 2011. This award by CNBC/TV 18 and sponsored by ESSAR Steel was given to the company for the 'PEB Project of the Year’ – Renault Nissan Automotive Pvt India Ltd, which the company had successfully implemented as the single largest PEB building in
the world.

The project involved over 20,000 mt of steel with a covered area of 300,000 sq m. D Raju, CEO, Kirby India, accepted the trophy from Sushilkumar Shinde, Union Minister for Power, Government of India at the felicitation ceremony on April 19, 2011 in New Delhi. This award is considered as the country's biggest and most trusted benchmark in the infrastructure sector.

On receiving the award, D Raju said, “Kirby Building Systems India is delighted at this honour as a recognition of our relentless efforts for excellence in our industry. Kirby Building Systems introduced the concept of Pre-Engineered Buildings in the Indian construction industry in 1999. Today, PEB is revolutionising the industry, and Kirby is leading this revolution with its constant innovation in products and applications.

Till date, Kirby India has served over 3,500 customers with more than 10,000 buildings spread over an area of 15 million sq m.” Raju also said that the Renault Nissan project is the first of its kind in completely utilising PEB structures for automobile plants in India. The company's scheme of alternate technical offer versus the original scope of work reduced the tonnage and saved the customer a substantial amount, which was the winning factor for bagging the project. This project required not only superior design but also flawless project management from start to finish.
