Winners - Afcons Infrastructure

The third-largest construction group in India - Afcons Infrastructure - has a strong presence in various parts of the world. Part of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, the company began as a civil construction firm in 1959. Over the past 54 years, it has emerged as an EPC firm, executing projects in India, the MENA region, Africa and Central Asia. It has also formed strategic alliances with global EPC players. Recently, Afcons has also been declared eligible for financial bidding of the Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Metro, the country´s longest planned underground Metro rail corridor, by Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation. Apart from this, design and construction of the Chenab bridge in Jammu & Kashmir was awarded to a JV of Afcons Infrastructure. Some of the company´s ongoing projects include civil works for Dahej Expansion Phase-IIIA-LNG storage tanks, civil and construction work at Jamnagar, Rohtang Pass 8.8 km highway tunnel at 13,000 ft above sea level in the Himalayan region, etc. The company´s sales in 2013-14 rose 19.27 per cent to Rs 3,673.6 crore, but its net profit declined by 46.55 per cent to Rs 49.17 crore from Rs 92 crore in the previous year.
