Asian Paints is India´s largest and Asia´s third largest paint company. It was launched in 1942 as a partnership firm by four friends. At present, the company operates in 17 countries and has 23 paint manufacturing facilities in the world, servicing clients across 65 countries. It has introduced many new concepts in India including Colour Worlds, Home Solutions, Colour Next and Kids´ World. In addition, Asian Paints manufactures a wide range of paints for decorative and industrial use.

A market leader since 1967, some of the company´s fast selling and popular products include interior paints, exterior paints, metal finishes, wood finishes and waterproofing. Asian Paints was included in Forbes magazine's ´Asia's Fab 50´ list of companies for three consecutive years - 2011, 2012 and 2013. In addition, the company was ranked 13th among the top paint companies in the world by ´Coatings World - Top Companies Report 2013´. Asian Paints will be investing Rs 2,400 crore to set up a manufacturing unit in Mysore district, Karnataka, that will have a manufacturing capacity of 6 lakh kilolitre per day. The 175-acre project has been cleared by the State High Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC) recently and will be rolled out in two phases. The overall revenue of the company in 2013-14 was Rs 12,581.64 crore with a profit after tax of Rs 1,218.81crore. The revenue of the company grew by 15.4 per cent. Its net profit in 2013-14 was 9.4 per cent as compared to 12.7 per cent in 2012-13.
