18 companies bid for the Rs 460-billion Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg

Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) authorities, on May 23, opened financial bids submitted by the qualified contractors to construct 13 packages of the 700-km Nagpur-Mumbai Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg (MSM) Expressway. Construction for the MSM has been divided into 16 packages and the bid process for the remaining three packages is still under progress. The 18 eligible bidders are: Megha Engineering & Infrastructure; NCC; TPL CENGIZ JV; L&T; Sadbhav Engineering; Reliance Infrastructure; PNC Infratech; Afcons Infrastructure; BSCPL GVPR JV; Navayuga Engineering Company; Apco Infratech; IL&FS Transportation Networks; KNR Constructions; Dilip Buildcon; Montecarlo; Iron Triangle; Ashoka Buildcon; Gayatri Projects; and Oriental Structural Engineers. Radheshyam Mopalwar, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, MSRDC, said, "With the opening of financial bids, we have achieved a milestone in the implementation process of the project. We will soon undertake an evaluation of the eligible bids before issuing the work orders. We are expecting construction for MSM to commence within the next two weeks (as on May 23)." The Rs 460-billion project will connect 10 districts, 26 talukas and 392 villages in the state. The greenfield project will have access control while its design and alignment is prepared as per International Road Congress standards. MSM will not only connect Nagpur and Mumbai, but also reduce the current travel time of 18 hours to eight hours between the two cities. As on May 23, the government has acquired 80.25 per cent private and government land as against a total compensation of Rs 47.88 billion for the Samruddhi Mahamarg.
