People strategy

JAGAN MOHAN highlights the factors that make Brigade the best place to work.
At Brigade, we strongly believe that continual learning and improvement, nurturing high performance, and celebrating every right occasion are keys to success. In our journey to excellence, we have taken a host of initiatives aimed at improving our work systems, processes and people practices to help employees perform better and inspire others to do well. Our vision, mission and values have been the guiding principles for us to keep pace in a highly competitive environment and continue striving for the best. Over the past few years, we have transformed into an highly acclaimed organisation in the real-estate space and become the face of the industry by winning many accolades in the fields of engineering, construction and hospitality, and for transforming Brigade into a ´Great Place to Work´.

Key differentiator
Brigade Group has been recognised as one of India´s best companies to work for in 2016. In one of India´s largest workplace studies, the group has been ranked No. 1 in the realty business for the second consecutive year and 39th across all industries. We have been passionately participating in the Great Place to Work Institute survey since 2011, and over the past few years have succeeded in being elevating to the frontrunner slot in the real-estate space. This has fostered remarkable improvement in our people practices, improving engagement on ground and enhancing customer experience. This recognition is testament to our commitment and solidarity to organisational goals and objectives.

The results clearly reflect our tag line, ´Building Positive Experiences´, and reinforces our strong belief that people are one of the prime movers in fuelling organisational growth and success.
Our people strategy will always continue to remain a key differentiator.

Improving performance on ground
The company´s HR strategy is to stimulate high-performance culture aligned with our vision, mission and core values to achieve organisational goals. This gets deployed through various HR initiatives aimed at improving engagement and productivity across the organisation. Our approaches to drive customer and business focus through the following initiatives have given us a competitive edge over others in the industry:

Acquisition of diverse talent: Neo Bs (New Brigadier) and their assimilation into organisational culture and ethos through a well-designed comprehensive induction programme, ´Aagaaz´.
Cascading of organisational objectives to ensure a clear line of sight for individual goals with organisational goals and targets.

Employee communication: Town Halls, Brigade Insight, Long Service Awards, HR connect programme, Criss Cross Connect, and involvement of employees in improvement initiatives to foster a culture of high performance and teamwork.
Structured technical training, on-the-job training, use of in-house experts for technical training, and knowledge-sharing sessions with our staff at the corporate office and project sites for reinforcement of new knowledge and skills on the job.

Celebrations
At Brigade, the system of recognitions and rewards help maintain a culture of motivation, unity and satisfaction - and satisfied employees are more loyal and hard-working than their unsatisfied counterparts. Hence, to keep up the energy and momentum, we recognise and applaud the team´s success as well as individual accomplishments. We celebrate people on numerous occasions.

The way forward
Besides a huge pipeline of projects in the offing, we are now looking at initiatives to nurture innovation and disruptive technologies in the realty business by partnering with industry leaders to create a structured programme that mentors a pool of high quality start-ups, adding value to the real-estate industry at large. To foster this growth, our most valuable asset will continue to be our people who contribute to the success of the organisation at every level - whether it is working with customers, transforming, building products, and more. While there are various factors that affect output, the most important ones revolve around the engagement of employees at various project sites or locations and we will continue to focus on aspects that consistently help us enhance the engagement levels of our employees across the board.
