For India, we have defined and announced a goal of $500 million

Curt J Hutchins, President-Asia Pacific, Eaton Corporation

Eaton Corporation developed an axle that enabled trucks to endure the rugged roads of the early 20th century. Now, in the 21st century, the company is a leader in electrical and hydraulic components, systems and services; aerospace fuel, hydraulic and pneumatic systems; and truck and automotive drive train and power train systems for performance, fuel economy and safety. Curt J Hutchins, President-Asia Pacific, talks on the company's plans to outgrow the current market, with Shriyal Sethumadhavan.

How do you view the current industry?
India is one of our key strategic markets for the hydraulic power business. Several private investments like commercial and housing infrastructure are extremely positive here.

Expound on your hydraulic range.
Our broad portfolio serves the agricultural and construction equipment. As we offer solutions including fittings to hoses to valves to actuators, our hydraulic components help develop these solutions to serve the customers' needs.

What is the company's reach?
We design technology and manufacture products depending on the market requirement. Serving customers in over a 150 countries, we earn 55 per cent for our revenues from outside North America and 25 per cent from emerging countries. To expand our core business, we plan to invest specifically in the Asia Pacific region.

Kindly talk about your sustainable approach...
We maintain sustainability in all our products. Also, we have a sustainable section in our global annual report, which mentions our commitment to green practices.

Your expectations for 2011-12....any future plans?
We plan to grow at a CAGR of 12-14 per cent from 2011 to 2015. For this, our emerging market needs to grow from 25 per cent to 30 per cent. For India in particular, we have defined and announced a goal of $500 million as a key to the global objective.
