KPMG - Infrastructure Today awards 2010 held in Delhi
The KPMG- Infrastructure Today awards 2010 were held recently in New Delhi. The awards organised by ASAPP Media Information Group and KPMG, awards honoured 10 companies, three ministries and two individuals across various categories. The awardees include Reliance Infra, GVK, IIFCL, GMR Group, IRB Developers, Mundra Port, Torrent Power, Ministry of Urban Development, and the states of Gujarat and Bihar.
Anil Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Infrastructure, was adjudged the Infrastructure Today Person of the Year, while Satnam Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, Power Finance Corporation, was adjudged the Power Today Person of the Year.
Reflecting on his desire to see something in India that would be breathtaking, Chief Guest Salman Khurshid, Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs (Independent Charge), said. “When we assumed office, we found ourselves on the crest of a wave that possibly started about 20 years ago. Today, despite pitfalls, we are seen as inevitable partners in the growth of the globe. Each morning, I wake up every morning in the hope that I can see something in infrastructure that I can say, ‘Gosh, that took my breath away!’.”
Pratap Padode, President, Foundation of Infrastructure Research Studies Training (FIRST), which has entered into a PPP for enhancing standards of vocational training, said, “With US$ 500 billion being spent over the next five years by our government, we felt that high standards need to be set for achieving excellence in infrastructure projects.”
