Pidilite holds event on sustainability
In their bid to promote green building practices, Pidilite’s Dr Fixit Institute of Structural Protection and Rehabilitation (DFI-SPR) recently held lectures on ‘sustainable construction and green buildings’ as part of their healthy construction series lectures. Dr Gajanan Sabnis, PhD, PE and Emeritus Professor - Howard University interacted with leading architects and engineers in Mumbai and Bengaluru. DR AK Chatterjee from Dr Fixit institute was also a part of the speaker’s panel.
Dr Sabnis described the present scenario at construction sites, stating how construction sites display utter disregard for stipulated guidelines in the form of heaps of sand and aggregates, high noise pollution, low use of ready-mixed concrete and fly ash based bricks and blocks and extremely poor quality of recycled building products. Citing the possible outcomes of so much environmental degradation, he laid emphasis on the need to adopt green practices in order to reduce environmental damage as well as protect natural resources. A special mention about the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and Pidilite Greenprint were also made.
