Biharsharif mull Rs 6.2 bn investment

In the next 18 years, Biharsharif municipal corporation proposes to invest Rs 620.22 crore in three phases on the development of water facilities, drainage, sewerage, roads, social infrastructure, urban poverty eradication etc.

This is part of the city development plan finalised by the civic body with the state urban development ministry and a London-based architect firm recently.

The proposal may be placed before the councillors in the next meeting for their approval and the work on the plan will be started soon.

The plan proposes to complete the first phase of the development work in 2016 with a plan outlay of Rs 103.01 crore. In the second phase, Rs 249.23 crore will be spent and work would be completed in 2021 and the final phase will be completed in 2030 with an expenditure of Rs 267.98 crore.

In order to upgrade water supply infrastructure, the plan envisages an investment of atleast Rs 208.31 in the next 18 years. Further, it has outlined an investment of Rs 146.77 crore on sewerage and sanitation during the same period.

Also, road construction, solid waste management, social infrastructure, and development of roads may get an investment of Rs 188.10 crore, Rs 32.51 crore, 24.91 crore, and Rs 6.94 crore respectively till 2030.
