While work is expected to start in the right earnest only after the Onam festival, the Metro agency will carry out the preparatory work during weekends till September on the stretch. DMRC has sought the permission to close down the stretch on MG Road between Padma Junction and Abad Plaza hotel on June 29-30 to physically trace utility lines.

The agency has also planned to close the stretch between Mullasserry Canal Road and KPCC Junction on July 13-14 for the same purpose.
