Department releases draft plan for comments

The Urban Planning Department of the Chandigarh Administration released the draft Master Plan for Chandigarh (CMP) 2031 prepared by the Master Plan Committee.

The union territory administration invited objections from general public for the draft plan. The draft plan was sent to the Town and Country Planning Organisation, GOI who supported its recommendations.

The Chandigarh Administration constituted the committee headed by Sumit Kaur, Chief Architect for the preparation of the Master Plan.

After thirty days from the date of publication, the draft plan would be taken into consideration by the Chandigarh Administration through a board of inquiry.

The objections or suggestions will be received from the chief architect, Department of Urban Planning, Administration.

The plan provides a guide for the development and future planning of Chandigarh. The draft was prepared after detailed studies of the existing ground realities including detailed SWOT (strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threat) analysis.

The administration also engaged the various stakeholders, conducted site visits, included feedback from various departments while preparing the draft.
