Development works soon in 200 more illegal colonies
Delhi government is all set to take up development works in over 200 unauthorised colonies even as these do not meet the eligibility criteria of 50 per cent built-up area in 2007 as per regularization guidelines. The Delhi Cabinet led by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit gave a green signal to development works in all colonies that existed on the ground in 2002. This will now lead to extensive road laying projects and other development works to woo voters in over 200 unauthorised colonies.
Delhi Urban Development Minister Arvinder Singh said that the state will write to the Union government apprising them of the cabinet decision. The State is hopeful of highlighting a total of almost 1,400 colonies. The cabinet also set on roll the much-delayed project of allotment of houses for EWS in Narela and Bawana.
