HMWS&SB plans Rs 141 cr water treatment plant
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) intends to set up a Rs 141.07 crore water treatment plant (WTP) as part of the phase III work on the proposed Krishna drinking water supply project.
The proposed 410 million litre per day (MLD) capacity WTP will be set up at Kodandapur and this would supply treated water to the city through Krishna project.
In this regard, the board would issue a fresh notification inviting tenders for the project. The water treatment plant is a major component of the project. The Board had floated tenders for the WTP under package-V and the expected commercial value (ECV) was pegged at Rs 141.07 crore.
The board plans to call fresh tenders because three major firms - Ramky Infrastructure, Geo Miller and Co, an MNC, and Mega Engineering - that filed their tenders, were disqualified as they failed to upload proper documents.
The Water Board had opened both technical and financial bids on November 22 and scrutinised them. Generally, the firms upload improper documents deliberately. The HMWS&SB had floated tenders for taking up the Rs 1,670 crore water project, which aims to bring 90 MGD water to Greater Hyderabad by 2013, under 10 packages.
