In order to address water shortage in the city, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) is supplying 90 million litre of water a day in addition to the 210 MLD water already being supplied under various stages of the Narmada water project.
The civic body supplies 210 MLD water under the first, second and the first phase of the third stage of Narmada water project.
Sources from the civic body said that the additional 90 MLD water will help to start water supply in various parts of the city.
The additional 90 MLD water is being supplied under the second phase of the third stage of the project. Thus, the city will get 300 MLD water in all. Out of which, 50 MLD water will be supplied to rural area and 250 MLD water will be supplied to different parts of the city.
On the occasion, Jirati demanded water supply for the residents of his constituency. Mayor of the civic body claimed that the additional water supply will solve the problem of water shortage to a great extent.
It may be noted that the project is aimed to supply 356 MLD water to the city, which will be possible after the dam on Narmada River will be filled with its capacity.
