Jet ties-up code share with South African Airways

To offer seamless travel to South Africa-bound passengers Jet Airways has entered into a code share arrangement with South African Airways. The code share agreement comes into effect from April 18, a Jet Airways release said in Mumbai on April 16. Code-sharing allows an airline to book its passengers on its partner carriers and provide seamless transport to multiple destinations where it has no presence.

The private airlines company, under the arrangement, will code share on South African Airways' flights between Mumbai and Johannesburg and beyond to Cape Town and Durban, the release said. Similarly, South African Airways will code share on Jet Airways' operations between Mumbai and Delhi and beyond to Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram, it said.

The agreement also provides for redemption of miles accrued under the loyalty programmes of the two carriers, it added. Commenting on the code share, Jet Airways Chief Commercial Officer Sudheer Raghavan said the firm is confident that this mutually beneficial code share will prove extremely popular with both business and leisure travellers.
