Kerala to develop NHs into 45-m width

Kerala government will see to that the national highways in the state be developed with 45-metre width, said the State Public Works Department Minister VK Ebrahim Kunju. The Minister said this at the two-day seminar on ‘Innovative initiatives for road development’ beginning on November 6 in Thiruvananthapuram. The Minister stated that elevated highway will not be feasible in Thiruvananthapuram. He said that on the Edapally–Moothakunnam stretch, land acquisition had been made for 30-metre width. It will be difficult to repeat the process of land acquisition on the same stretch. The National Highway Authority of India will not relent for less than 45 metre. So the government’s final take on road development is 45 metre, the Minister said.
