Kozhikode Corporation gets Rs 54 lakh for road repairs

The Kozhikode Corporation has been granted Rs 54 lakh by the Kerala government for immediate repair and restoration of roads within the Corporation purview and rural limits of the district. The government on July 23 had allotted the sum in two orders to repair eight roads in the Kozhikode Corporation area and five in high-range areas of Thiruvambady, Koodaranji, Karassery, Kodiyathoor and Puthupadi within the district.

The roads identified for renovation and repairs in the corporation limits are at Mankavu Kallikunnu, Thiruvannoor Samudhiri Kovilakam Road, Silk Street Himayut School, Payyanakkal Araikkal, Chakkumkadavu, Mukkaddar Marakkankadavu, near Hill View building at Kozhikode Medical College and drainage work on Mailampaadi Junction.

Earlier, the government had allocated Rs 48 lakh for immediate restoration and improvement of 14 other roads and drains within the Corporation limits damaged during the last year monsoon. The road work had included two separate renovation works of drains and footpaths in Kinnassery and re-construction of footpaths and roads in the coastal regions of Mukhadar, Kuttichira, Payyanakkal, Francis Road, Panniyankara, Kommeri, Mankavu, Palat Nagar, Puthiyapalam and Chalappuram.
