NMTC to make presentation on metro rail project

Nagpur Mass Transport Company (NMTC), which is a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for setting up metro rail project in the city, would make a presentation before guardian minister Shivajirao Moghe on the project. DMRC would also jointly make the presentation.

After the presentation, NMTC will submit the detailed project report (DPR) to the state government which will forward it to the central government for budgetary provisions.

It may be recalled that recently, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) submitted the much-awaited DPR of city's metro rail. It has proposed construction of two routes stretching over 42 km and costing over Rs 10,000 crore.

The presentation of DMRC and NMTC to Moghe is postponed owing to urgent meeting of cabinet's tally committee on annual budget at Mumbai.

According to sources in the know-how of the matter, work on the project may begin in the current calendar year if everything goes according to plan.

The North-South route will end at Mihan in the first phase. Route will be from Automotive square to Mihan, stretching around 20 km. The second route is East-West corridor from Prajapati Nagar-Wardhaman Nagar to Hingna, stretching around 22 km.

Both the routes would be built in elevated system, excluding the stretch near the airport, which will be underground.
