Naidu inaugurates Rs 1,930 crore highway projects in Andhra Pradesh
According to reports, Naidu will also be laying foundation stones for a separate 250 km NH project of around Rs 2,539 crore and also for the National Waterways (NW) 4 project along the Krishna River.
The development of NW-4 is planned in three phases. Phase-1 covers 82 km between Muktyala to Vijayawada; Phase-2 will span from Vijayawada to Kakinada and Rajahmundry to Polavaram. For the second phase, a proposal has been recommended by the Inland Waterways Authority of India for the Public Investment Board along with a proposal for the formation of a SPV by November 2017. Phase-3 will cover the Buckingham Canal, Commamur Canal and the stretch of Krishna and Godavari.
The project will enhance the economic growth in the region and aid the development of Amravati, the de facto capital of the state.
Venkaiah Naidu has inaugurated National Highway projects in Andhra Pradesh worth Rs 1,930 crore. According to a statement released by the Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Andhra Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will also be present at the event.
