Odisha govt to expedite road projects

The Odisha government has decided to expedite the pending road projects with an aim to boost infrastructural development which has slowed down during the last couple of years. Official sources said that the target has been set to complete Bhubnaeswar-Puri road by September, 2013, Bhubaneswar-Chandikhol road by June, 2014, Sambalpur-Bargarh road by May, 2014 and Rimuli-Rajamunda road by January, 2014.

The National Highway projects under construction in the State include Bhubaneswar-Puri (67.25 km), Bhubaneswar-Chandikhole (67 km), Sambalpur-Baragarh (88 km), Rimuli-Rajamunda (96.45 km), Panikoili-Rimuli (166.17 km), Cuttack-Angul (112 km), Angul-Sambalpur (150.86 km) and Biramitrapur-Barkote (125.6 km). Besides these projects, work relating to the roads from Sambalpur to Baharagora (368.2 kms), Bhuban-Duburi-Chandikhole (62 km) and Balasore-Jharpokharia (80.6 km) are in different stages of implementation like bidding and preparation of detailed project report (DPR).

Along with this, the feasibility study for six-laning of the roads like Chandikhole-Balasore section of National Highway-5, Bhubaneswar-Ichhapuram section of NH-5 and Chandikhole-Paradip section of NH-5 has also been prepared.
