PMO sets new deadline for rail line project in Jammu and Kashmir

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has set a new deadline for completing the Banihal Quazigund section of the Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail line by April-May, 2013.

During a recent meeting in the PMO, it was also decided that power transmission and distribution network strengthening works in J&K would be completed by March 2014.

By October 2013, the Chutak hydel project is expected to be fully commissioned and the Nimoo-Bazgo hydel project is to be completed by December 2013.

The meeting was called to take steps to expedite infrastructure projects in Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting, chaired by the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, and attended by the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir and Secretaries of the Central Ministries concerned.

Secretaries of the Union Government have been asked to intensively monitor these projects.
