Ramboll wins design contract for GBP 1.6 billion in India

Ramboll has won the design and construction support contract for a GBP 1.6-billion, 22-km-long six-lane Mumbai Trans-Harbour road bridge in India. Ramboll will reportedly act as an advisor for the Indian and South Korean JV contractor Tata Projects-Daewoo. Ramboll will provide detailed design services and will give technical support during the construction phase. It has won the second detailed design package for 7.8 km of the bridge, with Cowi winning another package to provide detailed design for 10.3 km.

The new link will join Mumbai with Navi Mumbai, south of the existing Old Vashi road and rail bridges. The 22-km-long bridge will be a six-lane highway with two emergency exit lanes and include a 16.5-km-long creek bridge with 5.5 km viaducts on land on either side.

The project will also include geotechnical studies, foundation, column and superstructure design as well as the supervision of the building site.
