Rebuilding highways in U'khand may take 3-4 months

In Uttarakhand, it will take at least 3-4 months to rebuild highways damaged by the recent floods. All national and state highways in the Garhwal region have been damaged with road-owing agencies reporting at least 100 stretches impacted by landslides, breaches or submergence. Several bailey bridges and steel girder bridges have also been washed away.

According to Border Roads Organization (BRO) and the Uttarakhand PWD show that NH-58 (Rishikesh-Mana), NH-74 (Haridwar-Chindiyapur), NH-94 (Rishikesh-Dharasu), NH-108 (Dharasu-Gangotri), NH-109 (Rudraprayag-Gaurikund) and NH-123 (Herbertpur-Barkot) falling within the state besides Dharasu-Yamunotri road have been closed since June 17.
