Seven companies secure contracts for Mumbai metro

Seven of the 10 infrastructure developers who made bids for Mumbai’s Metro Line 2B and Metro Line 4 were awarded contracts, according to reports. Metro Line 2B is 23.6-km-long with 22 stations and stretches from DN Nagar to Mandala; Metro Line 4 is 32.3 km long with 32 stations connecting Wadala and Kasarvadavali. L&T and Reliance Infrastructure successfully secured two contracts each. Reliance Infrastructure participated in a JV with an Italian contractor based Rizzani de Eccher. The contracts bagged by each company are reportedly in the range of Rs 1,200-1,400 crore. Five other companies to win contracts include Simplex Infrastructure, NCC Infra, J Kumar Infraprojects, JMC Projects and a JV between Tata Projects and China Harbour Engineering Company. The estimated cost of Metro Line 2B and Metro Line 4 is at Rs 10,980 crore and Rs 14,500 respectively. The target for project completion for both these corridors is set for 30 months.
