Tech team discusses with U'khand CM over reconstruction

A nine member technical team of senior officers of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (HUPA) held a meeting with Chief Minister of Uttarakhand at Dehradun on July 6. The team has been deputed by Girija Vyas Minister for Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation includes DS Negi, Officer on Special Duty (JNNURM & RAY) along with the officers of Housing & Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) and Building Material and Technology Promotion Council (BMTPC).

During its two-day stay the technical team will also hold discussions with officers of the State government regarding planning, designing and reconstruction of devastated houses. While briefing the Chief Minister about various interventions in Uttarakhand announced by the Girija Vyas, DS Negi said that the Ministry will help in planning, designing and reconstruction of devastated houses by deputing a Technical Team drawn from HUDCO. ), Building Material and Technology Promotion Council (BMTPC), Hindustan Prefab (HPL).

He also stated that all affected Municipalities / Notified Area Councils in Uttarakhand can be covered under Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) as a special case to support reconstruction of houses of the poor and reconstruct and redevelop these devasted houses. It was also informed that HUDCO has been instructed to provide long term soft loans of Rs 3,000 crore for 20 years duration for construction of houses and for reconstruction of infrastructure facilities.
