Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority will soon be releasing Request For Proposal (RFP) for turning Bandra-Kurla Complex into a smart financial district. The United States will help in preparing RFP for the Smart BKC project. In addition, Sanjay Sethi, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner-I and Project Director, MUTP, has been working on the plan to set up the International Financial Services Centre at BKC. Both these projects aim at building Smart BKC 1.0. It is his belief that global investors need tax benefits and good logistics, and a smart city is the perfect solution. Discussions between MMRDA officials and their American counterparts focused on mass transit systems and strategies to implement metro projects and the requirement of smart cities. Also the recent budget of MMRDA has placed priority on Mumbai Urban Transport Project, so it can be expected to take off soon enough. With so many plans in hand, Sethi is a busy man.
