Next-gen transport
With the recent completion of the first monorail car of the Mumbai Monorail Project, India's dream of a monorail system is finally turning into reality. A JV between L&T and Scomi Group, the system as Suhaimi Yaacob, Country President, India, Scomi Group, says, 'is a new-generation product that accommodates nearly 125 passengers.' The straddle-type system complies with the highest international standards of safety and reliability. Its design facilitates faster implementation with minimal demolition of structures. Greater reliability, high manoeuverability, lower cost and an eco-friendly design are some of the other advantages of this Rs 2,460 crore system that aims to ease congestion in the highly crowded Jacob Circle, Wadala and Chembur area.
