Essar Projects recently handed over the 5 mtpa steel plant in Hazira to Essar Steel Ltd. “This project has reinforced the competence of Essar Projects as the premier EPC contactor,” said Alwyn Bowden, President & CEO, Essar Projects. The completion of this project makes the Hazira Steel Complex, with an annual capacity of 10 mtpa, the largest single-location flat steel producer in India and the fourth largest, globally. This has been completed at a total cost of Rs 37,500 crore. The plant will play a major role in making Gujarat a global industrial hub, catering to the needs of capital and consumable goods and the shipbuilding and automobile sectors. Its strategic location, in addition, makes it an ideal gateway for meeting the global demand for steel. The completion of this project makes Essar a leading steel EPC contractor of the industry and demonstrates its capability to implement such large complex projects to the highest global quality standards.
