Track Runner
It is celebration time for Vinayak Deshpande, Managing Director, Tata Projects, as a consortium led by the company has bagged the contract for two phases of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDRFC). In a fiercely competitive bidding process, the company prevailed over consortium partners including Soritz and L&T, with the latter already working on the first phase of the project. The work on the 300 km stretch is slated to begin as soon as the final letter from the government is received. By winning this project, Deshpande has once again ensured that the company remains an integral part of Dedicated Freight Corridor project. For, Tata Projects had also won a 350 km, Rs 5,500 crore stretch in the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDRFC), jointly with Spanish construction giant Aldesa. The WDRFC runs from Dadri in Haryana to JNPT in Maharashtra with the entire Rs 3,000 crore project funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Under his aegis, Tata Projects also recently entered into a strategic partnership with Australian construction company, Brookfield Multiplex, to deliver a range of commercial and retail, healthcare and tourism and leisure projects in India. One thing, which is crystal clear is that Deshpande is not someone who wishes to rest on past laurels and is constantly striving to be the best and looks like the track is primed for future achievements and is full speed ahead.
