Narendra Singh Tomar has been given the additional charge of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. He has held portfolios of mines, steel, labour and employment, Panchayati Raj, and drinking water and sanitation, besides rural development. Tomar, a two-term Lok Sabha MP from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, has risen through the ranks in the Parliament. Having started his career in politics as a student in 1980, he was elected to the Madhya Pradesh Assembly twice between 1998 and 2008 and also served as a Cabinet minister in the state government between 2003 and 2007. While he maintains a low profile, we hope India sees massive housing and urban development under his mandate.
