600 MW Kakatiya thermal plant stage-II commissioned

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao dedicated the 600 MW Kakatiya thermal power plant Stage-II at Bhoopalapally in Warangal district of the State, taking the installed capacity of the project to 1,100 MW. This is the first major power plant to be commissioned after the formation of the new state in June 2014. The total installed capacity of TS Genco has now gone up to 5,045.26 MW and includes 2,882.50 MW of thermal power, 2,161.76 MW of hydel power and 1 MW of solar power. The state is in the process of adding about 13,960 MW of generation capacity by 2018-19, which includes 4,000 MW thermal by NTPC, 4,000 MW Yadadri thermal plant of TS Genco, and 1,800 MW of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd.
